No matter what you are going through, pray about it. I cannot encourage you enough. Pray for peace. Pray for wisdom. Pray for understanding. Whatever you feel you need to get through your situation, pray about it.
‘Pray without ceasing’ 1 Thessalonians 5:17
I quite literally pray about everything, from finding car spaces to making life decisions. Yes, the former may sound a little silly, but when you’re a single girl, out and about at night, believe me, you want a car space that’s close to the entrance! And He comes through . . . every time.
I remember being at the city train station with a friend. It was getting dark. We were only seventeen and had missed our train. Lingering around the train stop was a group of drunk rowdy guys. The situation made me uneasy to say the least. I wasn’t prone to using public transport, I had missed the train, I wasn’t sure when the next one would come, and these guys made my skin crawl. So I prayed. Silently and quickly, I prayed that the Lord might put a bubble of protection around us (and yes, I asked for a bubble, I was only seventeen). Within moments, a middle aged man came up to us. He was a bit rough around the edges but had a kind face nonetheless. He told us, he was not with that group and not to worry, he wouldn’t let them get out of control. This man kept in eyesight until the train came.
By no means am I suggesting we use God as a genie, to make our wishes come true or to take us out of difficult situations. I have simply found that praying about my life, committing my days to the Lord, and having constant conversations with Him throughout the day, allows me to have peace, no matter what His Will entails. ‘Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you.’ Deuteronomy 31:6
We have seen His promises in His Word. We know that He has called us, loved us, saved us, and will never forsake us – not ever. Such promises lead us to the inevitable question – if we have such a great God, why do we ignore Him? Why don’t we include Him in our day? Why don’t we read His precious Word? How can we NOT crave it?
This blog is not simply about being a daughter of the eternal King, it is about being His warrior. And we are in a battle, whether we want to accept it or not. We are in the midst of a spiritual battle. Just look at the world around us, watch the news. There is so much devastation in our world today and there is nothing we can do about it – but pray.
Warrior Princess, it’s time to put on your armor and keep your eyes upward . . .
‘Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man.’
